The word “MIZANI” means “balance” in Swahili. From this single word came the inspiration for the entire brand.

MIZANI is a premium, professional haircare range specifically formulated for all natural curl types.

In 1991, Soft Sheen and Redken Laboratories, developed the original MIZANI brand that debuted with nine products offering a collection of holistic premium salon-exclusive hair care and treatment products targeted to the African American salon/stylist and their clientele. In 2001, after existing as part of the Soft-Sheen Carson group in Chicago where MIZANI initially served as their professional hair care brand, MIZANI evolved into the L’Oréal Professional Products Division.
