We all have it and want to get rid of it… You guessed it BODY HAIR. Although completely natural let’s be real for some, unwanted body hair is just not an option during the warm summer days especially when showing more skin than usual in that fabulous red bikini.
Removing unwanted hair can be a painful not just physically but literally. Luckily over many years professionals all around the world have narrowed the best hair removal treatments down to help decide which treatment works best for each individual. So let’s get to it!
Waxing
Our dear old friend. A form of semi-permanent hair removal and one of the most common hair removal techniques around. Although sometimes painful it’s totally worth it as waxing removes hair from the root and therefore lasts longer. Almost any area of the body can be waxed including eyebrows, face, legs, arms, back, pubic area (known as bikini waxing) etc. The duration of the treatment is rather quick however note that the hair needs to be at least 5mm long in order to successfully achieve smooth hair free skin.
Sugaring Â
Say goodbye to waxing and hello to sugaring. A natural, less painful alternate hair removal treatment. Made from all natural ingredients, sugaring is not only better for the environment but less painful too (BONUS). So how does it work? A paste like substance is applied by hand to 2mm long hair in the opposite direction of hair growth and then removed the same direction as hair growth. Where as waxing is applied in the same direction as hair growth and removed in the opposite direction. Hence why sugaring is less painful. This technique not only removes unwanted hair but also exfoliates and moisturises the area during the treatment which aids in preventing ingrown hairs.
Threading
Once you thread you never go back. An ancient hair removal technique using antibacterial cotton to remove facial hair and shape beautiful eyebrows. But seriously this is your one way ticket to beautiful brows. I know you’re probably thinking cotton removes hair?! Here’s how – An accredited threading artist twists the cotton and rolls it over the skin to gently lift the entire hair from the follicle. The entire hair removal treatment takes about 15 minutes and because only the hair is being removed and no skin it hurts a whole lot less than other hair removal techniques.
Laser
If you’re not happy waxing, sugaring or threading to remove unwanted hair, laser hair removal may be an option worth considering. This treatment is a revolution in permanent hair reduction. Removes hair permanently using the selective photothermolysis mechanism. The procedure is quick and painless with lasting results. Unlike waxing you can shave in between treatments , in fact its recommended that you do to ensure that the laser can locate the pigment in the hair follicle without any issues making the treatment a lot easier carry out. Who knew shaving could be a bonus to permanent hair removal.
Now that you know what you know it’s important to remember that the end goal is to eliminate unwanted hair and that different hair removal techniques have different results but as always the choice is yours.
